Humidifier antibacterial ceramic balls are porous ceramic structures made by adding nano silver ions and rare earth elements (such as cerium Ce³⁺/Ce⁴⁺) as antibacterial agents to a high-purity alumina or composite mineral material (sepiolite, diatomaceous earth, kaolin, etc.) matrix and sintering at high temperature (1200–1450°C) 135]. The micropore size is 10–50μm, and the porosity is ≥60%. Compared with ordinary ceramic balls, the antibacterial contact area is increased by nearly a thousand times. It can release Ag⁺ to destroy bacterial cell membranes and inhibit the reproduction of more than 650 kinds of microorganisms. The antibacterial rate of common pathogens such as colon cancer, Bacillus, and Staphylococcus aureus is more than 99%; the ceramic balls are temperature-resistant at -30–300°C and are suitable for long-term immersion in the humidifier water tank (pH5–9). By continuously releasing silver ions, they prevent the water from becoming viscous and deteriorating, reducing the risk of bacteria spreading with water mist 8]. The effective antibacterial period of a single ceramic ball (size 4-6mm) is 6-12 months, and it will not cause microbial resistance; mainstream products have passed ISO22196 antibacterial certification and RoHS environmental protection testing
